Ever get the “So what are your wedding colors?” Excuse me? Is this 1989? In the current world of Pinterest and wedding blogs narrowing down your wedding décor to two colors seems unbearable. A wedding theme is where it’s at even though I sometimes think even the word “theme” seems a little narrow minded. More like a wedding feeling? Wedding ambiance? (I’m well aware that I sound like a legit crazy bride)
I like to direct my MOH, Meghan, towards the following key words: 70s, bohemian, glam, rustic. Not too Mad Men and not too free people/hippy. Think your crazy aunt who — USED to be a hippy (bohemian) that married a smooth ad exec (70s) and moved onto the farm off of Wanderlust (rustic) and has a preference toward gold and sequins (glam). Obviously, I’ve done more than just chosen two colors. What’s that you say? I only get to pick one ambiance theme? What about my bridal party theme?
Not a bridal shower theme or a bachelorette party theme, a bridal party theme. I went with the obvious choice, Beyoncé. A theme that encompasses how see each of my closest best friends. I wanted each one of my special gal pals to know that hanging out with them is like hanging out with Mrs. Carter herself. So what better way to kick off the Queen B theme then to make a survival kit. A kit carefully crafted to make sure your day is filled with pampering and booze for your long days on your private jet or evenings at home with Jay and Blue. Each item carefully chosen and accompanied by a Beyoncé lyric to keep them inspired throughout the day.
Since I have seven bridesmaid and we are on a tight budget I had to do a little research and planning before I headed to good ol’ targét. I narrowed down my lyrics and then thought of items to go with each. My total budget was $80.00 so that would leave about $10.00 for gift wrap and extra (taxes, cards, all the change on items since I round down – $3.89 is $3.00 in my world) and about $10.00 per gift. Ways I saved included buying the bulk bag of mints and split them up in party favor boxes and did the same with the watermelon candies. I also got a deal on the hand sanitizer with a BOGO at Bath and Body Works. The priciest was the champagne but it was worth it to pop a celebratory cork!
